The status of “cross-border commuter” in Switzerland describes people who live in another country (primarily Germany, France, Italy, Austria) but work in Switzerland, from where they return to their place of residence on a daily or regular basis.
Crossborder Handling
German and Italian Cross border commuter
For german and italian cross border commuter you now enter the remote work days (non working days in Switzerland). We then automatically calculate the working days in Switzerland.
These you can enter directly on the paystub or in the employee settings under source tax.

French cross border commuter
With the new DBA between Switzerland and France there are some changes and will be in effect from 1st January 2026.
- Remote work days need to be added (and employees need to stay below 40% remote work)
- Travel days (temporary assignment days) need to be added (and employee can have a maximum of 10 such days per year)
