Where can I find the default VAT settings?
You can find the default VAT settings for your documents under "Settings" - "All Settings" - "Accounting" - "Default VAT settings for documents."
You can adjust the default VAT settings for the following documents:
- Offer
- Order
- Invoice
- Credit Note
- Purchase Order
- Bill
- Expense
- Vendor credit note
To define the VAT settings per document type, click on the desired document type.
Which setting options are available?
Settings are available for the display of amounts ("Net" or "Gross") and VAT ("Inclusive" or "Exclusive"). The preview on the right side changes depending on the selected setting. Please note that not all settings are available for all documents.
Net: The prices of the individual items are without value-added tax. The VAT is added at the end of the total sum.
Gross: The prices of the individual items already include value-added tax. No further VAT is added at the end.
Inclusive: Select this option if the VAT should already be included in the prices of your offer.
Exclusive: Select this option if the VAT should not be shown separately in the offer. Please note: This function is not available for invoices, as a missing VAT declaration would lead to incorrect VAT accounting.
Will these settings also be applied retroactively?
No, the settings you make in the default VAT settings are only applied to documents you create after the adjustment. Existing documents are not changed. If you want to change them as well, you must open these documents and make the appropriate adjustments in the "Settings" tab above the items.
Why do I only see the "Basic VAT settings" option?
If you only see this one option, your basic settings indicate that you are not VAT-liable.
If you are VAT-liable, you can adjust this as follows:
- Go to "Basic VAT settings."
- Change the option from "No, I am not VAT-liable" to "Yes, I am VAT-liable."
